| Lucho Medina was born in the town of Huaraz, in the north central Peruvian Andes. As a young boy, he found himself designing and selling his drawings to the local silversmiths and jewelers. At the age of 14, he moved to Lima, where he set up a factory working with 18 carat gold and platinum. He single handedly changed the use of 18 carat yellow gold from the customary pink-gold, which was used throughout Peru. After successfully making a name for himself in his native country, he moved to the states.
Once in New York, he created a line of fine jewelry that was sold at stores throughout the US. He was an innovator in creating a line of fine jewelry for children as well.
One of his great accomplishments was being commissioned by a known New York designer, to sculpt the Greek Mythological God Zeus for Tiffany & Co. This 18 carat gold sculpture was proudly displayed in the window of the store on Fifth Avenue.
His creative spirit enticed him into the New York restaurant business, where he created a successful recipe that was know throughout the metropolitan are for a number of years.
Never straying from creating and collecting jewelry and stones, he is now back full time, doing what he does best…
The Mechanical Institute of New York City was the base for his formal education, focusing on jewelry design. He followed with the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) specializing in diamonds. He has also attended the Art Students League for sculpture and portrait painting; and finally, attending the Fashion Institute of Technology for fashion design and gemology.
He and his wife reside in Manhattan and they are the parents of two boys.
